Trena Merry Portrait

trina merry, Renown Performance Artist & Bodypainter

Trina Merry paints on the human body, creating the illusion that our reality is a two-dimensional space.

Trina Merry's artwork, created around the world, defies conventional boundaries as she merges the human form seamlessly with landscapes, architecture, and cultural symbols, exploring themes of identity, unity, and activism. Through meticulous attention to detail and expert use of light and shadow, her body painting and photography create a visual tapestry that challenges societal norms and prompts viewers to reflect on their authentic selves and their relationship with the environment. By blending art and activism, Trina Merry's transformative creations inspire us to embrace diversity, question societal expectations, and confront pressing social and environmental issues.

2022 Theme

What is Community?

What is Community? Home Heart & Hearth. With all our shared history, our foibles, and our strengths…what defines community and makes it work?

com·mu·ni·ty /kəˈmyo͞onədē/ [noun]“a group of people living together in one place, a feeling of fellowship with others, sharing common attitudes, interests and goals.” At our best…community is a verb.

This is not just a conversation about one community. It is a necessary conversation happening all over the globe. As we emerge from the Pandemic, what new ideas are shaping our world? How can we change for the better while still honoring the past? How do we grow our sense of humanity and humility in trying times? And what new innovations can we celebrate?

2023 Theme

The Art of Living

This event explored the art of finding balance and purpose in our lives and featured a diverse lineup of speakers who will shared their unique perspectives and experiences from the academic to the artistic, the concrete to the cutting edge.

Now that we have made it through the pandemic, the conversation has shifted. Questions of how we create a life worth living have become an ever more central theme. What do we find important? How can we find more happiness AND purpose?

Every town has their Hartland Hill

Why Hartland Hill?

Woodstock is like many communities around the world. We have beauty. We have history. And we have a distinctive feel, unique to our esthetic. Hartland Hill represents all of those pieces sewn together giving us our identity.

Hartland Hill is also the physical point that looks over the town.

It’s witnessed our growth over hundreds of years. It’s witnessed the Under Ground Railroad; Washburn’s office, historically referenced as “Pentagon North” in center of town during the Civil War; the clear cutting of Mount Tom and the subsequent birth of Conservationism; the Arts & Crafts and music of the 60’s and 70’s; River Road becoming a river during Hurricane Irene and a community coming together to rebuild; and in recent years, a recalibration coming out of COVID to grow, heal, and bring all that is special about our area forward.
